What makes your candles "organic"?
Our candles are crafted using only certified organic, sustainably sourced ingredients. Certified organic means the plants grown for use in the wax, wick & botanicals are cultivated according to organic standards: without harmful synthetic pesticides or genetically-modified organisms (GMOs).
Every ingredient is certified organic by independent, internationally-recognized standardsโthe Soil Association, the USDA National Organic Program, and the Organic Content Standard.
The wax consists of organic beeswax and organic plants grown without synthetic pesticides or herbicides. The wick is crafted with organic cotton and organic linen, coated with organic wax. And we create our scents with certified organic botanicals.
Are your candles certified organic?
Every ingredient we use is certified organic by independent, internationally-recognized certification standardsโthe Soil Association, the USDA National Organic Program, and the Organic Content Standard. We maintain organic certificates and verify each ingredients continued organic status every year. Our candles as a whole product are not yet certified, as organic certification is quite an undertaking for a new small business; however, we look forward to engaging with that processโhoepfully in the near future.
What kind of wax do you use?
We use a blend of organic beeswax, organic carnauba, organic coconut and organic RSPO palm (responsibly sourced), certified organic by the Soil Association. Unlike traditional paraffin candles, our wax is entirely free of petroleum, phthalates, and harmful toxins. And unlike soy candles, our wax is grown and produced without GMOs or harmful pesticides.
How do you scent your candles?
Our candles are naturally scented with 100% certified organic essential oils and certified organic plant-derived aromatics.
The plant-derived aromatics we use are USDA certified organic, consisting of organic sunflower oil & botanic aromatic isolates derived only from plant extracts. USDA certified organic means at least 95% of the aromatic blend is organic with the remaining percentage following strict non-synthetic sourcing and production standards.
For a truly 100% organic candle, our essential oil-only options have you covered. For those scents which cannot be captured with organic essential oils alone, we offer the cleanest (still certified organic) botanicals available. All candles contain a total organic percentage greater than 99.6%.
What type of wicks do you use?
We use certified organic, unbleached cotton and linen wicks. Our wicks are completely free of lead, zinc, other metals, and synthetic additives.
Are your candles cruelty-free?
Yesโall of our candles are cruelty-free. We never test our products on animals.
Do your candles contain any synthetic dyes or additives?
Absolutely not. We embrace the natural, creamy color of our organic wax. We never use artificial dyes, UV inhibitors, or chemical binders.
Candle Care & Safety
4 questions
How do I prevent my candle from "tunneling"?
Candles have a "memory"! To prevent tunneling (when wax builds up on the sides of the jar), ensure that your very first burn lasts long enough for the melted wax pool to reach the edges of the jar completely. This usually takes about 2 hours.
How often should I trim the wick, and why?
You should trim your wick to 1/4 inch before every single burn. Trimming the wick prevents the flame from getting too large, eliminates black soot from forming on the glass, and extends the overall life of your candle.
How long should I burn my candle at one time?
For safety and longevity, we recommend burning your candle for no more than 3 to 4 hours at a time. Allowing the candle to cool and the wax to solidify before relighting will give you the best results.
How can I safely clean out and reuse the candle jar once it's empty?
We love when our jars are upcycled! Once there is about 1/4 inch of wax left, stop burning the candle. Pour boiling water into the jar and let it sit; the remaining wax will melt and float to the top. Once the water cools and the wax hardens, pop the wax out, pull out the wick base, and wash the jar with warm, soapy water.

Sustainability & Packaging
2 questions
Is your shipping packaging eco-friendly?
Sustainability is at the core of our business. Your order arrives in a recyclable corrugated box, sealed with paper tape and addressed with a recycled paper label. Inside, the candle rests in wood wool made from US aspen fibers, which is compostable and biodegradable, so it can go straight into your compost once it has done its job.
The wrapping follows the same thinking. We use FSC-certified and recycled cardstock, recycled handmade paper, 100% hemp twine, and organic or wild-harvested herbs. When the candle is finished, the vessel is yours to reuse, and many are food safe. Refills are available by the piece or by subscription.
Are your candle vessels recyclable or reusable?
Yes! Our beautiful glass/ceramic vessels are designed to have a second life. In fact, many of them are food safe! Once cleaned out, they make perfect planters for succulents, makeup brush holders, or desk organizers. The glass is also fully recyclable.
